Une bonne ambition

Un grand nombre de chrétiens immatures existent. Combien de fois, après une réunion, j'entends dire : "Je ferai de mon mieux pour devenir un bon chrétien". Je précise alors que devenir enfant de Dieu est un cadeau, qu'il s'agit avant tout de prendre ce que Dieu donne en Christ. Quel privilège que de pouvoir parler de l'autre fondement, et non de sentiments : "C'est vrai, car c'est ce que dit la Bible."

Ils lui dirent alors : "Que ferons-nous, pour faire les œuvres de Dieu ? Jésus leur répondit : C'est l'œuvre de Dieu, que vous croyiez en celui qu'il a envoyé.

Jean 6:28,29

Père, je te remercie que ce soit si simple ; que tu veuilles que nous croyions simplement en ton Fils, Jésus-Christ. Aide-nous à nous tourner continuellement vers lui, afin qu'Il nous montre le chemin.

There are many immature Christians. How often, after a meeting, I hear, "I will do my best to become a good Christian." Then I make it clear that becoming a child of God is a present, a matter first of all of taking what God gives in Christ. What a privilege that I can speak of the other foundation, not of feelings: "It is true, for it says so in the Bible."

Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.

Father, I thank You that it is so simple; that You would have us just believe in Your Son, Jesus Christ. Help us, that we continually look unto Him, so that He may show us the Way.
